Synopsis: For centuries, the most amazing fantasy creatures hiding in a secret hideaway, away from the modern world. This shrine is called Fablehaven. Kendra and Seth do not know about this magical place, where their grandfather is the keeper yet. One day, they discover the incredible truth: The forest around them is populated by fabulous creatures - fairies, giants, witches, monsters, ogres, satyrs, nymphs ...
Today, the future of Fablehaven is threatened by the advent of evil powers. Thus begins the struggle of two children against evil, to protect Fablehaven destruction, save their family ... and stay alive.
My opinion:
History: The parents of Kendra and Seth go on a cruise and they must allow children to grandparents Sorenson. They go somewhat against heart but they have no idea of the wonders they'll be able to meet the tremendous history and they will live!
Characters: Kendra and Seth children are 14 and 11 years. Kendra is pretty serious and thoughtful, and dare not disobey. By cons, Seth, "like most boys," is rather hot-headed and always want to defy the bans. Grandpa Sorenson is an old man a little too sure of himself and not trying to really talk with his grandchildren for their explain that the rules are made to be followed and bad things they might otherwise. I liked the "character" of the pool (those who read it will understand, others, what are you waiting for?) Whose children have custody. And Lena, former human being become magical and Dale, the faithful friend and accomplice grandfather Sorenson are also very active and adorable. The author has managed to make us like all the main characters in a frank and amazing. (Except Muriel the witch, but of course as it is a nasty, it's normal!)
What I liked: Gradually the author reveals much about Fablehaven, as and when children learn to know the fantasy world in which their grandparents were the guardians. I loved walking around with them in the gardens, chat with Lena, meet fantastic creatures and beings wicked and vile. Nothing but the cow is worth a visit! (I loved his story) I laughed a lot during the lesson given by the fairies to Seth (albeit a bit nasty) and I even got scared and thrilled at the time of the night St. John. The author puts an extraordinary all feelings, good or bad. This is a book for youth but can cause any adult who kept part of his child's soul.
What I did not like: RAS, highly readable and allowing time to escape from a book.
Note: 17/20
Finally: my PAL overflows a bit right now but I think once it goes down to read the further adventures of Kendra and Seth!
