Gonorrhea How Long Before Symptoms

Kate Daniels, Volume 1: Magic Bites, Ilona Andrews

Synopsis: In Atlanta two opposing realities: that of the technology and magic.
During a wave
magic, mages cast their spells and wild monsters appear, guns and refuse to run the cars do not start. Then the wave recedes as quickly as it came leaving behind all sorts of paranormal problems. We live in dangerous times. But otherwise, I'd be unemployed. When people have trouble falling within the occult and the police will not or can not adjust, it makes use of mercenaries of magic like me.
But when a necromancer destroys the only family I have left, I expect more orders and I unsheathed my sword.

My opinion:
History: Kate lives in a bizarre world, oscillating between periods magic and normal periods. It is a magical mercenary lonely but when his mentor is killed, she does not hesitate to put aside to find the person or persons responsible.
Characters: Kate is a witch with powers quite significant. She wanders around with his sword "slayer" (killer in English) and often seek out the fight. It has a character of hardened steel and is one of those heroines that it is easy to attach! She is right and fair and always try to do what she believes is right. She never lets down even when everything seems to be over! She is perfect, although we may well suspect that there are gaps in the shell ... At "male" there Crest, Jim, Derek, Nick Curran and obviously ... This is for me the only male potency, full of strength and vitality, a sense of humor and strangely developed a friendship as strong here. Even when he disagrees he can recognize his mistakes! (Although the character of Nick is still developing, we only found in the last part)
What I liked: the world created by the author is inside of us but corrupted by magic. Technological objects walk when the magic does not "work" and not vice versa. I liked Kate monitor in this world that seems a little complicated. The author also gives us much information about the different "peoples" (the méthamorphes, necromancers ...) and their peculiarities. It is a world well supplied that we want to know more through the adventures of Kate.
What I did not like: I did not used to being "shocked" in the books listed in bit-bed but I found it unfortunate that at times the author (or translator) uses vulgar language while the rest of the book is very well written ... But I will continue with this fun series!
Note: 16/20
Finally: It is important not to rely on the cover of this book may sound weird, but explained that while playing (you will understand the allusion to the lion ...)!

Paper read as part of a common understanding on Livraddict with: Didi ; Karline ; Little Lips ; Nanet ; Tigrouloup ; Lexounet ; Thalia ; Navy ;
