Fedeylins, Volume 1: The Shores of the world Nadia Coste Synopsis: Like all fedeylins, small winged creatures living on the edge of a pond that is their world, Cahyl hatches on a water lily. Like all fedeylins, he must brave the dangerous fish and drowning before reaching the shore. Like all survivors of this first test, Cahyl appears before the Founding Fathers, eager to know the cast chosen for him and the future any path that lies ahead. But
Cahyl is different: it lacks the brand that would bind her fate. Its very existence shook the foundations of its society and that everyone is not ready to accept it.
My opinion:
I wanted first to thank Cecilia and
editions Gründ to have discovered this book sooner. It was a very pleasant reading.
History: Cahyl is a young larveylin barely out of its egg. He learns life in the fedeylin community but with a big secret that should not transpire. It's hard to fit in and find glark, a strange creature, an unbreakable friendship that will help him through his apprenticeship.
Characters: Cahil young larveylin who just spent 5 years in an egg, comes ashore after hatching so incongruous! We will learn through him what a life larveylin who has just arrived. Gradually, we begin to know him, we know the dark secret he hides it and it attaches very easily. His mother and sisters will do everything to help to feel at home but thanks to glark will happen to really accomplished. I loved the characters who surround him, his family first and then glark fedeylins some of which eventually became friends. For cons, I have not really enjoyed the fathers, who are to my taste a little too arrogant ...
What I liked: the world and characters created by the author out of the ordinary. She knew the time of a book, let us journey into his world. We learn little by little, the laws governing fedeylins, their habits and how to do as we get to know a new people. It focuses on Cahil, we suffer with him and hopefully his future will be tinged with joy and happiness. His learning is at times in pain but he can count on few people to support him and I think these are the most beautiful things in this book: friendship, family and love. (In the order you want)
What I did not like: there are quite long which happen to be offset by some wonderful moments that pass Cahil among his people and his glark friend. So, I come to be eager to read more because the end leaves us a little about our hunger and I expect a lot responses than I hoped to find in this tome. This is an introductory volume without much action except in the last 100 pages.
Note: 16/20
Finally: I expect many more ...
